Food does not feel the same during prostate cancer. Hunger may come and go. Some days you eat normally, some days even a few bites feel like work. Food that you liked earlier may not feel the same now. Still, the body needs regular fuel. Without it, weakness increases, weight drops, and daily activity becomes harder. Eating something, even in small amounts, keeps the body going.

Foods to include

Simple food works best. Regular home food is easier to continue. Vegetables like spinach, carrots, and broccoli can be part of meals. They are easy to cook and adjust. Tomatoes are often included because they contain lycopene, which is linked to prostate health.

Fruits are easier to eat when the appetite is low. They can be taken between meals without much effort. Roti, rice, oats, and dal give steady energy. These are basic foods and usually easier to continue during treatment. Protein helps reduce muscle loss. Eggs, paneer, curd, dal, fish, or chicken can be added based on your preference. If full meals feel difficult, smaller portions across the day work better. Nuts and seeds can be taken in small amounts. They are simple to add and easy to prepare. Water intake should stay steady. Even when food intake drops, fluids keep the body functioning.

Foods to reduce

Some foods feel heavy and make eating harder. Deep-fried items, packaged snacks, and very sugary food can be reduced. Red meat and processed meat should be limited. Alcohol dependence depends on the treatment and the person. It is better to follow medical advice.

Low appetite days

Some days, eating feels like a task. This is common. Even a little is sufficient on those days. It is easier to eat soft food such as khichdi, curd rice, or soup. Eating slowly helps. Staying with a basic routine is beneficial. It becomes easier over time by eating about the same time each day.

Things to remember

Food does not treat cancer, but it affects strength. Even small meals make the body better able to cope with treatment. It does not need to be perfect. Having simple food on a regular basis is sufficient to maintain the body during this period.
