· Challenges & Planning

Everything changes in a moment. One word… and nothing feels the same. The sounds around feel distant. Conversations don’t fully register. Even simple thoughts feel heavy. It’s not just about the diagnosis. It’s about what it brings with it. Fear. Uncertainty. Questions that don’t have immediate answers.

Sitting with it

At first, it doesn’t feel real. The mind goes back to that moment again and again. Trying to understand it. Trying to make sense of it. There’s no need to rush past this feeling. No need to act strong. Just sitting with it… even in silence… is part of it.

Not holding it all inside

Keeping everything within makes it feel heavier. Words may not come easily. And that’s okay. Even sitting next to someone without saying much can help. Just knowing someone is there… changes the weight of the moment a little.

The questions that don’t stop

The mind keeps asking. What now. What next. Why this. The answers don’t always come quickly. And sometimes, even when they do, they don’t feel enough. It takes time for things to settle. For thoughts to slow down.

Taking one step without seeing the whole

Thinking too far ahead can feel overwhelming. Everything starts to blur. The future feels too big to hold. So it comes down to one small step. Just getting through the next moment. Then the next. Without needing to see everything at once.

The body feels it too

Even before anything begins, the body feels the weight of it. Tiredness comes quietly. Sleep changes. Appetite shifts. Nothing feels quite the same. And that’s okay. There’s no need to force the body to act “normal.”

Feelings that come and go

Some moments feel calm. Some don’t. Fear shows up without warning. So does anger. So does silence. It keeps changing. There’s no fixed way to feel. No right way to react. Just what comes in that moment.

When it feels too much

There are moments when it all feels like too much to hold. Too many thoughts. Too many feelings. In those moments, even the smallest support matters. Just not being alone in it… can make a difference.

A reminder

Nothing needs to be figured out all at once. Nothing needs to be handled perfectly. This moment… as it is… is already a lot. There is no straight way through this. No clear path from the start. Just small steps, taken slowly. Some days will feel heavier. Some are a little lighter. And for now… just staying with it is enough.
